Three cheers for Chris and Alison Smith who took part in the Eddystone Pursuit and raised a whopping £3,014.73 for Dart Sailability! Grateful thanks also to our chief sailing instructor Anna and husband Peter who helped crew yacht Linnea which was awarded second place in the individual event. Nearly 80 yachts took part in the challenge which has raised over £1.1 million for humanitarian causes since 2002. Chris says: "Winds were very light causing some congestion near the start, however, the fleet soon spread out making it difficult to see how we were doing. In the end, nobody completed the course and only two boats managed to reach Eddystone Lighthouse." Points were awarded for distance run. The sun shone and a good time was had by all! Prize giving took place in the unique surroundings of the National Marine Aquarium at Plymouth. Chris says: "We were delighted to win a lovely engraved Dartington crystal tankard together with the cash sum for Dart Sailability."
Many congratulations involved to everybody who contributed.
